A note about artists payments
We will begin payments once we begin selling advertising. We have to build our catalog of music and operate for some time first. We're spending most of 2024 building a starting catalog and getting our name out in the scene. Look for us at festivals and events this summer.
Our official launch will be in January of 2025. While that may seem like we're taking a long time, we are only playing New York and Pennsylvania unsigned artists on our station so it may take some time to gather enough music to give the listener a good experience. That's where you come in. Upload some music to help us build our library, and when we reach our starting goal of 15,000 songs we'll go live. All it takes is for you to upload some music, then pass on the link to another local musician or six. So, how will you get paid? Its pretty simple. Artists get a split of the profit. No muss, no fuss. Just a simple split. We sell ad space, and split the profit with you. If we make money, so do you. So, whats the Split? - 1/3: 1/3: 1/3
1/3 for the artists/bands 1/3 for the curators and production (employee owners-we are all equals here) 1/3 operating costs |
How much will that work out for you?
That really depends on airtime and ad sales. Here's a couple hypotheticals to give you an idea of how it will work.... Example:
We bring in $90,000 profit for a particular year-I'll leave expenses and taxes out of the equation for simplicity. This is $90,000 in profit for easy math. So the Artist/Band portion is simply $30,000- This is distributed based on air time during our 18 hour curated cycle. 365 days x 18 hours(60min)= 394,200 min $30,000 / 394,200 min=.08 cents per minute played You have 3 songs that got airtime. Played 6 times each for a total of 72 minutes. $0.08 x 72 = $5.76 -about 1,900 plays on a streaming site. Example 2: We bring in $150,000 profit for a particular year So the Artist/Band portion is simply $50,000- This is distributed based on air time during our 18 hour curated cycle. 365 days x 18 hours(60min)= 394,200 min $50,000 / 394,200 min=.13 cents per minute played You have 22 songs that got airtime. Played 6 times each for a total of 528 minutes. $0.13 x 528 = $68.64 -about 20,000 plays on a streaming site. Is it going to make you rich? No, but a few bucks is better than no bucks, and we'll get your music to new ears. |
